It’s not an uncommon request to ensure the character of a Heritage Home is preserved in the process of improving its functionality. Starting with the cosmetic update to the kid’s bathroom, this Broad Street Renovation in Truro, Nova Scotia has a completely reimagined flow to suit the growing needs of a busy young family.
The cramped galley style kitchen transformed into a generous workspace complete with a large island with no shortage of storage. The traffic flow from the mud room now breezes past a small bar and prep sink instead of interrupting meal prep. Details like a charging station for devices, a concealed television over the fridge, and a new pot filler add modern convenience. In the dining space (formerly a sitting room), we removed a closet and created a dining room suitable for casual weeknight dinners as well as holiday feasts for the whole family. Details like a custom window seat with wall lights add character that make you question if they have always been there.
The result of this full-service design package is a timeless design that perfectly blends the old with the new.
