To say building your first home with your own two hands is a labour of love would be a huge understatement. Just ask our senior designer Marissa Buckley and her husband, a local home builder, who opted to tackle creating their first home together. Luckily for them, their skill sets married beautifully to create an enviable home on a quaint wooded lot just minutes away from the ocean and a short drive to the downtown Halifax core.

The 2200 sq ft home was created by adapting a floor plan to optimize their needs and square footage ambitions with Marissa tackling all of the interior design and styling. Knowing they wanted to enjoy their custom home but with the possibility of resale in mind, a palette of carefully curated neutrals allow for sophisticated and elevated take on a classic aesthetic. The finishes are fresh yet warm, elegant but youthful. 

The space is completed with custom drapery, an over-grouted fireplace, comfortable seating and carefully collected vintage furniture accents.
